The organic textures found in nature are in dynamic tension with the surfaces and structures we build in our daily lives. I explore this tension and balance, revealing the mystery and fragility of the lives we build within a context of growth and decay, memory and the passage of time. My work mixes the ancient with the contemporary. I mix my pigments with wax, as I explore encaustic painting. I love its translucency as it absorbs light through it’s many surfaces.
