ARTIST STATEMENT

My process is about experimentation. Somewhere between figurative and abstraction, I like to leave traces of the process visible, almost exposed. I work in layers, adding and subtracting to allow unusual ideas to emerge. For me it’s a metaphor for us as human beings. We have layers of experience, some hidden, some shown. It’s what makes us unique. It’s magical.

NOTABLE COMMISSIONS

• 2016, Two portraits (one in pen and ink and one in oil) used for marketing materials for multi-award-winning Singer, Songwriter and Producer, Olaf Blackwood. Still using these today.
• 2022, Portraits in oil to be used in a Los Angeles Independent Film by Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Film Maker, Ahmad Ali Lewis. The film depicts an artist and my work is being used as that artist’s work. Untitled Film is still in production.
