Chelle Diederich was raised in the Greater Green Bay, WI area. After a brief time in Illinois for college and in Sheboygan, WI for a dip into the corporate world, she returned to her roots and returned to painting. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art, Business Administration, and French and a Master of Business Administration degree.

She has a studio space in her garage where she works on paintings ranging from four inch squares to pieces larger than four feet. Chelle has exhibited in museums, galleries, and art centers in Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Chelle grew up in the Catholic faith and gathered inspiration from the beauty of Catholic places of worship – the stained glass windows in particular. The Philosophy of Art class that Chelle took while studying abroad in Amiens, France fueled interest in the way that gothic Cathedrals used light and color to honor their faith through the work in stained glass windows. While she no longer identifies as a Catholic, the inspiration of the stained glass windows has remained. She creates her work in oil paint. By thinning the paint out she is able to create layers of color that are rich in their intensity and moments of intrigue.
