Anastasiya “Nastia” Craig is a contemporary American-Ukrainian visual artist and interior designer.
Her artistic journey started at a young age when she began taking drawing, painting, composition and art history lessons in her native Odessa, Ukraine. She came to United Sates at the age of 17 to pursue interior design degree in New York State and moved to Madison, WI afterwards where she currently resides. Through the years Nastia continued independent study and production of art, exploring variety of styles and directions from expressionism, surrealism, and imaginary realism to abstract art.
She enjoys experimenting with different art techniques such as painting, drawing, collage and sculpture and mostly works with mixed media collage where she can apply many of these methods. Her interior design practice has greatly influenced development of her style of work as it provides a “designer thinking and approach” in how Nastia puts together compositions and arranges various shapes and colors. Bridging together these two disciplines, allows her to create a holistic environment where art and design are extensions of one another. Nastia tends to use bold colors, textures and abstract imagery to create striking visual artworks. Her pieces are created with acrylics and other media on acetate film that is collaged together on a substrate and finished with resin or gel medium. The images of her physical work are frequently used as a base for digital art.
Her work has been displayed in galleries and museums in US in solo and group art exhibitions throughout the years.
