This month’s member of the month is Hollie Hollister! Hollie has been a member for 3 years now and is a huge advocate of our 100women initiative. We’re so fortunate to have her as a member and you can almost always find her with a smile on her face. Learn a little bit more about her below!
Occupation:
Hollie Hollister, Founder of H Cubed Group, LLC.
Q1. What motivates you?
Helping heart-based small business owners and solo entrepreneurs grow their businesses and themselves (all without stifling who they are or selling their souls).
Q2. Why do you work out of a coworking space? And more importantly, why 100state?
At the very heart, it’s about surrounding myself with a diverse community of impassioned problem solvers, collaborators and creatives who aspire to positively impact the world and those around them. The community serves as an inspiration to stay the course and/or strategically pivot when venturing out on paths less traveled (especially during those challenging ‘gutting-it-out’ moments/days that can bring you to your knees).
Q3. Who do you look at as a role model and why?
Richard Branson. For me he serves as a guiding force on what ‘Doing Well While Doing Good’ embodies. I’m drawn to his renaissance-like qualities and global interests (i.e., Richard Branson is an English business magnate, investor, author, tie-loathing adventurer, philanthropist and troublemaker. He founded the Virgin Group, which controls more than 400 companies. In 2004 he established Virgin Unite, the nonprofit foundation, which unites people and entrepreneurial ideas to create opportunities for a better world.)
Perhaps my ‘why’ is best summed-up borrowing from a selection of Richard Branson’s inspirational quotes:
“I believe that drudgery and clock-watching are a terrible betrayal of that universal, inborn entrepreneurial spirit… Engage your emotions at work. Your instincts and emotions are there to help you… There is no greater thing you can do with your life and your work than follow your passions – in a way that serves you and the world… If you can make people’s lives a lot better you’ve got a really good business.”
Q4. What is your favorite 100state memory?
One of my favorite memories is the ‘Problem-Solving Soiree’ event held on January 11, 2017 — marking the milestone of expanding to our current location (from the old office on West Mifflin). Immersed alongside 100state members AND the public, the event celebrated our past and ushered in the future by posing pressing questions that Madison is facing. Breaking into small groups of shared interest(s), we then brain-stormed possible solutions. For me that’s where the magic happens…when you get to move beyond the surface and begin working with someone/group with the opportunity to test and/or turn ideas into reality.
Q5. What inspires you to keep going, pursuing your dream?
Holding the space for my clients, colleagues and friends to step into and own their brilliance…to trust that they are enough.
Q6. When you’re not at 100state, where can you be found?
Often you’ll find me in varied community settings, serving in the role of shoulder-to-shoulder coach, mentor, change-agent and/or social entrepreneur.
